VARC Library


Read atleast 2-3 articles, 4-5 RCs and 6-8 VA questions daily. Reading and solving should go hand-in-hand

 
  • Start by learning the pattern of the VARC section. Understand the different kinds of questions asked and what they entail

  • Understand basics like argument, structure, tone, author's point of view, main idea or theme of the passage, etc.

  • Try to make a mental map or gist once you complete reading the article or RC. If you are facing difficulty to do this, then you can try summarising each para in a word or two by jotting it down on paper. Over the period, after some exercise, you can do this in your head

  • Start reading articles from one daily newspaper and one business newspaper. Editorials are a must. These will also help you to keep up with the current affairs and helps at later stage of interview process

  • For solving RCs, one can start with RC99. It has RCs of easy-medium-difficult levels.

  • While vocabulary might not be explicitly asked in the VARC section of CAT. But sometimes it helps you understand difficult words when you are unable to understand the contextual meaning. Use this vocabulary tool to add words to your repository and practice/revise them frequently. It's fun too!

 

  • These two playlists give you an overview of questions, traps set by question setters and application-based questions asked in an RC Playlist-1 Playlist-2

  • Short articles - For beginners who wanted to start with shorter articles to develop the discipline of reading

  • Curated article List - This is a curated list of quality articles across different genres. This repository exposes you to varied difficulty levels from varied sources. Reading longer articles is highly recommended to build reading stamina and focus for a longer period. This exercise of reading a 2000-3000 words article will also increase your reading speed and helps in reading 600-800 words CAT level RC with ease
