HoReCa is a business term that refers to food service industry that sells food and/or beverages. It is one of the fastest-growing markets across the world and combines the hospitality industry. It is the abbreviated form of the keywords Hotels, Restaurants and Catering which characterizes the industry. It is thought to have originated in Holland and is currently widely used in European and Asian countries.


It is a specialised division that caters specifically to the product requirements of hotels, restaurants and caterers. So, instead of procuring from retailers, they can directly get the products from manufacturers. Many FMCGs are eyeing this lucrative segment as it is an alternative to conventional trade channels to increase sales and market share.


It may also mean: Hotel, Restaurant and Café

Example: Food products like dairy products, oil, exotic vegetables; Cleaning products like detergent, soap, sanitiser; cutlery products, etc., are sold through HoReCa.
